Construction Updates
Current Status
Construction is underway at multiple shoreline locations. Work is being completed in phases, with crews moving between sites as activities are finished and new areas begin.
As construction progresses, work will shift from one location to another rather than happening everywhere at once, helping keep impacts temporary and focused in specific areas.
What's Happening Now
Construction updates will be posted as they become available and may include schedule highlights, anticipated impacts, and photos when available.
- Site preparation and staging activities
- Installation of shoreline protection features
- Setup of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) measures
- Environmental protection measures to safeguard water quality
What to Expect
During construction, residents and visitors may notice some temporary changes in the area, including:
- Daytime construction activity at or near shoreline work areas
- Temporary adjustments to pedestrian access near active work zones
- Construction equipment and materials staged near shoreline locations
- Occasional traffic or sidewalk adjustments as work progresses
Environmental protection measures, such as turbidity barriers and erosion controls, will be in place throughout construction to help protect surrounding waterways.
Schedule
Construction is anticipated to continue through 2026, with work taking place in phases across multiple shoreline locations. As construction progresses, schedules may adjust from time to time due to weather conditions, site conditions, or the natural flow of construction activities.
The project team is committed to keeping the community informed and will share updates on key milestones and anticipated changes as information becomes available.
Project SCOPE AND ACTIVITY
The City of Hollywood is making shoreline and tidal flooding mitigation improvements throughout the Hollywood Lakes neighborhood to help reduce flooding risks and protect shoreline infrastructure. Work will take place in phases across multiple locations, allowing construction to move efficiently while maintaining access in the area.
An interactive project map highlights active construction areas, including:
- N Ocean Drive & Johnson Street (Site 1)
- S North Lake Drive (Site 9)
- N South Lake Drive (Site 10)
- S South Lake Drive (Site 17)
- 804 S. Ocean Drive (Site 18)
- N North Lake Drive (Site 19)
- Site 20
- Site 21
Construction activities may include shoreline and seawall improvements, roadway and sidewalk upgrades, and landscape restoration along the water’s edge. These improvements are intended to enhance safety, maintain access, and support the long-term resilience of the neighborhood while minimizing impacts to residents as work progresses.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will project updates be provided?
Yes. Project updates will be provided at Neighborhood Meetings, Public Meetings, and this website.
What to expect during construction?
- For each street, the goal is to close small sections at a time progressing from west to east to facilitate minimal impacts to residences and businesses.
- Minimal impacts may include: Driveway closures; Construction noise; Minor vibrations; Construction equipment; and Detours.
- Accommodations will be made for all mail, trash and emergency services.
Will I lose utility services?
Existing utilities providing services to affected Docks will be removed to accommodate construction. Locations with existing water services will have temporary accommodations to maintain water service. Locations with existing electrical services must be coordinated with the Contractor directly to facilitate temporary accommodations if needed.
Why did I receive a construction notice letter when there are no construction crews working on my street?
Construction notices are sent to residents up to a two street radius of the proposed work area, as traffic patterns within this area may be affected.
